Facebook offers a native way to share a portion of a video, but it does not produce a downloadable file. If you need the actual clip, you will need another approach.
Method 1: Facebook's Built-In Clip/Share Feature
- Click the "Clip" button below a Facebook video (available on select videos).
- Drag the handles to select the segment you want.
- Share the clip as a link.
Limitations: This creates a shareable link with timestamps, not a downloadable MP4 or GIF. You cannot import the clip into a presentation or edit it further.
Method 2: Download with a Third-Party Tool, Then Trim Locally
Services like fbdown.net or getfvid.com let you paste a Facebook video URL and download it as an MP4.
- Copy the Facebook video URL.
- Paste it into the downloader and save the MP4.
- Trim the file using QuickTime (Mac), Photos (Windows), or another editor.
Limitations: Not all Facebook videos can be downloaded. Downloaders vary in reliability and may include ads.
Method 3: Slidekick
With Slidekick:
- Paste the Facebook video URL or upload a file.
- Trim to the exact moment in the visual editor.
- Export as MP4 or GIF.
