Google Slides only supports direct video embedding for YouTube and Google Drive. Vimeo videos require an extra step.
Method 1: Download (If Enabled) or Screen Record
If the Vimeo uploader has allowed downloads:
- Click the Download button on the Vimeo page.
- Upload the file to Google Drive.
- In Google Slides, go to Insert > Video > Google Drive and select the file.
If downloads are disabled:
- Play the Vimeo video in full screen.
- Use your OS screen recorder to capture it.
- Trim and upload the recording to Google Drive, then insert it.
Limitations: Many Vimeo videos block downloads. Screen recording reduces quality and takes extra time.
Method 2: Slidekick
With Slidekick:
- Paste the Vimeo video URL or upload a file.
- Trim to the exact moment.
- Export as GIF.
- Send the GIF straight to your Google Slides deck.
Slidekick handles URL import, trimming, and direct delivery to Google Slides — no downloading, no Drive upload, no file juggling.
If you insert Vimeo videos into Google Slides regularly, Slidekick lets you paste the URL, trim the moment, and send GIFs straight to your deck — no install.
